What is the Friedland reception centre and why do late repatriates travel there?

The Friedland transit camp (Grenzdurchgangslager Friedland) is a federal reception centre in Lower Saxony run under the German BVA. It processes late repatriates (Spätaussiedler), their spouses and descendants under § 26 BVFG. Documents and a Registrierschein are issued here, and residents are distributed to a federal state. Where exactly is Friedland camp located and which airports are closest?

The reception centre is in the municipality of Friedland (Landkreis Göttingen), southern Lower Saxony, near Göttingen and the borders of Hesse and Thuringia. The closest large airports are Hannover (HAJ), Frankfurt (FRA) and Kassel (KSF). We also operate transfers from Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Munich and Dortmund.

Who can use Friedland Transfer?

The service is primarily for late repatriates and their families arriving under § 4, § 7 and § 8 BVFG, and for people leaving the camp after registration and distribution to a federal state. We also drive relatives visiting the camp and ordinary private passengers on airport, Friedland, anywhere-in-Germany routes.

Where will the driver wait at the airport?

The exact meeting point in the arrivals hall of the correct terminal is agreed in advance by Telegram or phone. After landing, the driver monitors the flight, meets you with a name sign if requested, and stays reachable until you meet.

What happens if my flight is delayed or rescheduled?

Share your flight number when booking, we track arrivals in real time and adjust pickup accordingly. Extended waiting conditions and any additional costs are agreed when the booking is confirmed.

Will the driver help with luggage?

Yes. Our drivers help load suitcases, hand luggage, pushchairs and other items into the Volkswagen Caravelle Long's large cargo area, and help unload them at the camp block or the agreed address on arrival.

How much luggage can I bring for the move to Friedland?

The Volkswagen Caravelle Long has one of the largest cargo areas in its class, enough for a family relocation with several large suitcases, bags and boxes. Please share the number and approximate size of items in advance so we can plan the interior layout.

Yes. Please share the child's age and height at booking. Availability of a suitable child seat (group 0+, 1, 2/3) or a booster is confirmed separately.

Please tell us before booking and specify the species, size and whether a transport box is available. Feasibility depends on the size of the carrier and, for arrivals from outside the EU, the required veterinary documents.

Prices are calculated individually in the Telegram bot @FriedlandTransfer_bot based on the route, number of passengers, luggage volume, travel time and special requests. The price is fixed before the trip, no hidden extras.

How long is the drive from Hannover Airport to Friedland?

A direct trip from Hannover Airport (HAJ) to Friedland via the A7 motorway and B27 usually takes between 1h 30 and 2 hours depending on traffic and time of day.

We recommend booking at least 3-5 days before your arrival or departure from Friedland to guarantee vehicle availability. For last-minute requests write in the Telegram bot, we will do our best to arrange a slot.

By default the trip is private, the vehicle is fully yours. Shared trips with other families are only arranged when explicitly agreed at booking.

We use well-maintained Volkswagen Caravelle T5 and T6 long-wheelbase minivans, 7-8 seat vehicles with a large cargo area, air conditioning and a clean interior. The ideal choice for family relocations and trips with a lot of luggage.

Yes. Our drivers speak fluent Russian and German, which is particularly helpful for late repatriates during their first days in Germany, at the camp, on the road and at rest stops.

Are you affiliated with the BVA or the Friedland camp administration?

Accepted Answer

No. Friedland Transfer is an independent private passenger transport provider. We are not affiliated with the Bundesverwaltungsamt (BVA), the Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge (BAMF) or the Friedland reception centre administration, but we have worked with families going through the camp since 2011.
