Dortmund (DTM) is a small airport with a quick exit from arrivals: it usually takes only a few minutes from baggage claim to the car. The route to Friedland follows the A44 and A7 via Paderborn and Kassel and takes around three hours.

The distance is roughly 260 kilometres and the journey takes about 3 hours. The airport operates a single compact terminal. There are low-cost flights from Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and we take that into account when scheduling the pickup.

After a long flight, passport control and baggage claim there is still one more journey ahead: reaching the Friedland reception camp in Lower Saxony. By public transport that means trains, changes, buying tickets in an unfamiliar language and hauling heavy suitcases through stations. A direct transfer removes all of it: the driver meets you in arrivals and drives you in one go to the camp gate.
