The drive from Frankfurt Airport (FRA) to Friedland: 290 km
Frankfurt am Main (FRA) is Germany's largest airport and the main entry point for long-haul flights. The drive to Friedland follows the A5 and A7 via Giessen, Kassel and Göttingen and takes around three hours, so we plan departure with a buffer for the morning congestion around the Frankfurter Kreuz.
The distance is roughly 290 kilometres and the journey takes about 3 hours. The airport operates Terminal 1 (areas A, B, C) and Terminal 2, linked by the Skyline shuttle. There are long-haul flights mostly land in the early morning, and we take that into account when scheduling the pickup.
Because the airport is huge, we agree the meeting point in advance, usually the arrivals exit of Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. After a long-haul flight we make a short stop on the A7 so children can stretch their legs.
